Canoe club Sloterplas is the only canoe club in Amsterdam West, founded in 1972. On the beautiful Watersporteiland in the Sloterplas we have our own accommodation. On our grounds you will find boat sheds with more than 200 canoes and kayaks, a canteen and changing rooms and enough space for picnics and BBQs. During club days (Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evening) the canteen is open and it is often pleasantly busy on our large lawn, terrace and around the new jetty.
The association has over 140 members, some of whom are very actively involved. On Wednesday evenings, sailing and instruction are given, and in the weekend, tours are organized from the clubhouse or in the region.
Canoeing is an individual sport. Many members go out on their own. The association offers storage space for this. We are affiliated with the Tourist Canoe Association NetherlandsThrough them you can participate in tours and insure your canoe cheaply.
Meeting point
In addition to canoeing, our association is also a meeting point for members, donors, friends and visiting canoeists. Members can use our terrain to enjoy the peace and quiet in the green. Members who do not have their own boat can use the club boats on club days on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. If you have shown that you can sail well, an appointment can be made with the board to be able to use the association material independently.
Canoe club Sloterplas is not a rental station. Our neighbours Sloterplas Water Sports Centre
(at number 4), canoes, pedal boats, SUP boards, sailing boats etc. can be rented. They also have a large terrace and bistro.
"You can learn to kayak."
You can learn to canoe and kayak. We give three series of lessons in kayaking. On Wednesday evening or on Sunday afternoon. A series of courses lasts about 6 weeks and after that you are able to sail a short trip with others, without feeling insecure in the boat.
